The couples assessment is a thorough and detailed process that helps me identify and clarify the strengths and the challenges in a relationship. The outcomes of this process can be used to guide treatment options and therapy goals.
Couples Therapy is a form of therapy where you and your partner meet with me to learn new skills to help improve the connection and communication in your relationship.
What to expect in couples therapy
Phase 1: The Assessment
This is a three-part phase where I meet with both you and your partner, and we talk about your goals, your history, and explore how your relationship has grown and changed over time.
Phase 2: Therapy & Integration
We meet for regular appointments weekly or fortnightly to learn and practice new skills.
Phase 3: Relapse Prevention and Treatment End
When you both start to feel confident, appointments are phased to monthly or bi-monthly – whatever suits you both at that stage of your relationship. You learn how to review your relationship health, and how to maintain the gains you’ve made in therapy on your own without support.
